Suchman challenges the typical eurocentric view of plans as part of action, instead considering them as an after-the-fact visualization of improvised events building towards a goal. This is connected to Weiser's explanation of how technologies can seem to disappear when truly integrated into our lives, for example writing on signs, which we read and act on without even thinking about it.
We should consider both these perspectives when thinking about how AI is built and interacted with. Analyzing different models for the ways in which people make decisions help us understand cognition from various perspectives, and considering how technologies disappear can conversely make us more aware not only of how we can further integrate new technologies into our lives, but also more aware of technologies that are already so integrated we overlook them in our analyses.
